Tests & Assessments

Psychometric Testing

Many different types of tests can provide additional information that help form an employer’s overall profile of you and how you may operate in their workplace.

Obtain as much relevant information as you can about the tests you are to take. What sorts of tests will you sit?  How long will they take? Is there a time limit?

The golden rule is to read carefully and make sure you fully understand any requirements before putting pen to paper.

Types of Assessment

Typically there are three main areas that can be assessed with Psychometric tools.

These typically comprise of what the person:

  • Can do: Ability Tests
  • Wants to do: Interest Inventories
  • Will do: Personality Questionnaires

Organisations with a thorough recruitment process predominantly use ability and personality assessments for selection and development.  Interest Inventories are primarily used for career counselling or outplacement type situations.  The combined use of ability and personality assessments is used to gain a more comprehensive picture of an individual.
