The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) undertakes merits review of executive decisions made by the Commonwealth Government and plays an integral role in Australia’s system of Administrative Law. Many cases before the Tribunal involve complex and confronting facts or difficult questions of law. Some of the cases are sensitive or controversial. The Tribunal’s work may have wide ranging consequences for individuals, the community or the economy. The work is diverse and the users of the Tribunal come from a wide range of backgrounds.
The AAT takes on Associates to support the Members of the Tribunal in their practice. These are development roles – the initial contract is for 12 months, though many Associates remain for another year or two, and you can undertake PLT whilst at the Tribunal.
The AAT has registries in all capital cities with the exception of Darwin – though we are only currently recruiting for the Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane Registries. These are highly sought after, interesting and challenging roles in an important organisation.
